All,
My PD is 11/2003 and my case was transfered to PA backlog center, I have not heard anything since then.
My employer wants to call the Senators and Congressmen to see if they can expedite this process.
Could you please provide some suggestions on:
1. What should the employer tell to the law makers?
2.How will the law makers help me?
3. Do you have any fax/email templates?
4. Any other suggestions?
Thank you all for your help.

USCIS - Change of Address Information (http://www.uscis.gov/addresschange)
Penalties for Failure to Comply
A willful failure to give written notice to the USCIS of a change of address within 10 days of moving to the new address is a misdemeanor crime. If convicted, you (or parent or legal guardian of an alien under age 14 who is required to give notice) can be fined up to $200 or imprisoned up to 30 days, or both. The alien may also be subject to removal from the United States. (INA 266(b)). Compliance with the requirement to notify the USCIS of any address changes is also a condition of your stay in the United States. Failure to comply could also jeopardize your ability to obtain a future visa or other immigration benefit.

When I went to my county health dept to get vaccination shots (for medical exam), they asked me to see the civil surgeon first, "else you will pay lot more for shots that you do not need". I gave them the standard list (MMR, Polio, DTaP, Influenza type B, Hepatitis B), and there are a few more in (page 3 of) I-693 form (http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-693.pdf). Someone on this thread (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5553) (second-last post) says you may need a shorter list based on your age group. Did anyone recently take these shots, and can she/he give the correct list here?
Thanks.
I only took TDaP (Adacel) shot. For MMR, Hepatitis B and Chicken Pox I had a blood test which showed that I am immune. You do not need polio shot.
Thanks.

For the more sophisticated types, you can do a carry trade by shorting USD in the Fx markets and putting the proceeds in a Brazilian short term bond which yields 9.5%. Everbank in Nevada issues a Brazilian bond by an AAA rated German bank. Not government backed debt but the underlying instruments are all government bonds.
The net of transaction costs is a yield pick up of about 7.5% and your money invested is Zero. Of course there is no such as a free lunch and you need to have accounts with the ability to seamlessly trade Fx and other instruments. Plus you will have the risk of default on your shoulders.
-Cheers

DMV has accepted EAD with Last name as LNU though the passport do not have any surname . They have issue DL with LNU. Life is moving on.
When I checked with My lawyer about "How to correct at 485 filing" . My lawyer belongs to one of the big corporate lawyer firm (USABAL)
1) correct the name at password . we can send the passport for name split .
if you do not have this isse then ignore
2) Wait for GC CARD
3) File some kind of form to get the replacement card --(we need to attach some proof with form) . Lawyer is going to file for us.
For now just waiting ...

Folks,
The "Time as Resident in a USCIS District" clause in the naturalization process says that "Most people must live in the USCIS District or State in which they are applying for at least 3 months before applying".
If you have gone thru this process could you please tell if this means that
a. the person must have stayed for at least 3 months during any time during of the residency period to be eligible to apply in that district
OR,
b. the person must live in the district for at least 3 months immediately preceding the naturalization application (for example, if applying in July 2010 then must be present in that state/district at least since Apr 2010)
The reason I'm asking is that I know people who live in India after GC and then come return to get citizenship...so wondering how it worked...

Thank you! Hopefully 8c/page is not big money for me.
All you need is History/Documents report to check upon the status. So that's 8c per case. Opinions are free in PACER.

Hi,
I am on H1b visa and it is expiring in sep 2009 in 2 months. I need some information incase i dont get a project in mean time. I already got RFE for the extension.
Is it better to convert to H4 visa? How much it costs? and how long it takes to convert? Also do we get any kinds of problems in converting to h4 visa?
Also if we converted to h4 visa, can we easily get f1 visa if we want to study later or can we go back to h1b from h4 visa.? what all things are required.
Please let me know.
Thanks in advance!!

Sundarpn,
You are correct that if you do not maintain valid H-1 status your wife will lose legal status in the US. If she pursues a degree as a FULL TIME student she can file for a COS to F-1. As part of that application she will have to document her valid H-4 status by proving that you are in valid H-1 status with current paystubs and/or letter confirming your employment from your H-1 employer. So it would be safest to file the COS while you are still employed.
Hope this helps,
Ann

My understanding is that you can transfer existing H1B. I am not a lawyer. If you have a copy of your H1B approval notice, you should be able to transfer to your new company. However, if you may have to visit US consulate back in your home country for Visa. You may want to double check with immigration gurus.

Hi Guys,
I used to work for company a which was a part of the bigger company A. There was another company b which was a part of the bigger company B.
Now both companies A and B made a joint venture (JV) and made company c joining company a and b.
Company A has 25% stake and company B has 75% stake in JV(Company "c"). The new formed company "c" has new name, all employees filed new employment applications and have offered a new employment with the new company c
Now my question is as this company c is totally new, can I convert my EB3 case to EB2 and use company a experience and file for EB2 with company c
Thanks,

Nothing stops you from having a religious marraige.
You will anyways need a marraige certificate from the civil authorities to prove marriage, even if you hold a religious marraige.
