I will be buying an 11 this summer. I am assuming the SB i5 ULV is a given and the 3000 graphics will be more than enough for me so...
1) 128gb ssd standard (unlikely because ssd prices probably haven't fallen enough...yet)
2) 4gb ram standard
3) more battery life (maybe just to 6 hours, but hey its an improvement)
4) Backlit keyboard (for aesthetics more than functionality)
5) Thunderbolt (last because I don't really do much file transfer in the first place)
oh and include the 11 in the back to school free ipod touch deal.

Not only that - but the fact that there is no film in a digital camera - Kodak is a "film emulsion" company. Professionals never bought Kodak cameras or lenses. There is no "film" in a digital camera. The most natural progression would have been for Kodak to make memory cards.
Most of the R&D (and they did some great R&D in chemistry, materials and human image perception) were fundementally irrelevant to digital.
The changes that Kodak would have needed to be relevant were so huge (fire 90% of staff, change the entire core business) that I don't think there was any way they could have been succesful.
The successful camera companies today fall into one of two camps: 1. well established camera companies. 2. Consumer electronics companies.

Fuji is a very good tasting Apple. Hope they don't taste this good because they have emulsion in it:-)

Oh wonderful ... how many of these brilliant analysis's have we had?? They are gonna go for T-Mobile cus they the GSM ... they are gonna go to verizon because they have an awesome network!
Everyone seems to forget that of the big 4, all of the carriers told apple to take a hike (except atnt) because of their the demands of total control of the app store, and the demand of a cut of the general revenue from the phone. atnt pays apple more for the devices than competing products.
atnt now has a data hog of a phone, and because they don't receive revenue from app store sales (even when its being downloaded over the network and not wifi or on a computer) and have to pay and arm and a leg to apple, thus they can't affording to upgrade their network. Mark my words, they will be the last to 4G and they will have the worst 4G network too.
All 3 of the carriers not with the iPhone have gotten behind Android. They have more control over the product, pay less for it, and receive revenue from the android market. Their flagship phones, are all android devices, the Incredible, the Evo and the Nexus One.
A manager has to say ... what exactly does apple have to offer us exactly? except a headache ..

Oh man! I cancelled my preorder (waiting till summer when we get the proper games) but I've just played around with a Japanese import. It works! It really friggin works! Quite heavy though, feels more like a PSP.
Just waiting on Ocarina of Time, Kid Icarus and the download shop to open...

Why can't they just make a JACK connector, with 4 wires, like for the iPod Shuffle? That would allow everything to go through ONE port, it would be easy to manufacture, compatible, and there would be no wrong way of connecting it. Not to mention it's tiny.
You could then replace all the USB, Thunderbolt, FireWire 400, FireWire 800 and all that random stuff with ONE connector that would be easy to connect, cheap to buy and it would be very small and secure.
Wake me up when it will be possible to supply data at high speed and enough power through 4 cables with a jack connector.

One biggie is an enhancement, as opposed to a fix. Outlook can now sync w/iCal. This was present in Entourage, but was dropped from the initial release of Outlook.
Too bad this wasn't released a couple of weeks ago. I could have saved some struggles for my boss who we moved from Windows/Outlook to OS X/Mail/iCal.

Amazon is known to post a lot of wrong things in the past, (iWork '11 anyone?) but this seems pretty legit. I burned my install to a DVD to use it, and it worked just fine. I'd assume that this is the last upgrade on a DVD though. OTA upgrades FTW.

A person can buy DVD's almost everywhere. They do not need either of these creep shows. I doubt if I have spent a total of $100 combined between them. Wal-Mart (especially) just gives me a totally negative feeling. I will not spend my hard-earned there, regardless of what their prices are.

I bought a Verizon iPad because I have an AT&T iPhone. I figured that if one doesn't work, the other will. I saw no need to get two devices on the same network.
But go ahead, explain to me why that's stupid, since I clearly don't get it and I'm ignorant. :rolleyes:
Could be they made many more Verizon models. Could also be that ATT models are being bought for resale overseas. Nothing wrong with that, which is what the OP was implying, I think. Could also be a combination of the two, of course.
Thankfully, there's no moral, ethical, or legal responsibility saying what you should do with your legally obtained, publicly available tech item. You can use it, blend it, sell it to your neighbor, use it as a frisbee, or even carry it on a plane and once you land, you can do all those same things EVEN if your plane landed near a bunch of Asians instead of near a bunch of white people. Crazy, huh?

The iPad 2 at $730 beat the xoom at $800? Ouch... Not that i trust CR so much, but even with a margin for error, this seems rather telling...

They rated it as their BEST smartphone, but said they wouldn't recommend it.

Because, in their opinion, the iPhone 4's antenna was bad enough to make it bad at being a phone, which is its purpose, even though all the other parts of it were and still are amazing. However, they were completely wrong about that. Yes, maybe the reception gets worse when you touch that black spot, but I never leave the house without a case around it because the thing's expensive, so I never really got their point. That's why I tend to take CR with a grain of salt, but they did give it high ratings so... i guess you just have to read into their recommendations to get the full picture and decide for yourself.

DVD's are obviously pretty profitable or they wouldnt bother selling them, so what they are saying is if the movie companies let Apple sell movies they are gonna cut off their noses to spite their face and pull a really profitable sales line? I dont think so - ********* idiots.

Absolutely ... and in all honesty, I think many had good reason to become "Mac haters" too. I was a hard-core PC user back in 1996 or 97, when I decided to take the plunge and try a Mac. (Wondered what all the fuss was about, and wanted to learn something new.) I bought a whole Performa tower system with color printer, etc. I think I put up with that for a whole 3 months before gladly selling it at a loss to someone else! Gag... non-upgradeable video with too little VRAM, worse multitasking under MacOS 8.x than my Windows PC before it had, etc.
It wasn't until I saw OS X on a G4 tower that I gave Apple another chance. And now, today, it's almost all I use at home!
Truthfully though, Apple still needs to do more. The Mac Pro is single-handedly changing the opinions of quite a few PC users who kept arguing that you could simply get more performance out of a Windows PC than a Mac. (It's hard to argue with a quad-core Xeon that can be upgraded to an 8-core version with a CPU swap, and costs less than a comparable Dell system.) And offering a 24" LCD iMac is a good "power user" move too - since it silences the people who whine about all-in-one designs, mainly because they can't get a big display with one.
But IMHO, Apple is a little weak in the video card dept. still. The Mac Mini now costs $100-200 more than it did when it came out, and you still get wimpy, non-upgradeable graphics in it. The Core Duo 2 CPU in one *really* starts to make that look lopsided. Even the iMacs could use something like Radeon X1900XT's in them - because the home market they target includes a lot of teens who want to play games on the computer.
And I'm *really* hoping they start doing more to get software ported to OS X. The ability to boot into Windows shouldn't become an excuse for developers not to make native OS X versions of software. I barely ever boot into XP on my Mac Pro because I like the OS X environment so much better. So the games I tend to play on it are the ones like "Call of Duty 2" I have for OS X.
It's sad though, many people still hate macs. People who have not used one since the old OS 8 / OS 9 days. The 'only one-mouse button / expensive / can't run any programs' image still tarnishes apple. It might take another couple of years for that to wear off from people. At least.

I am amazed to recently discover Mac owners pay more on average to keep the most current OS running on their box, even though OS X is cheaper (by about $70) than comparative Windows releases. This is, of course, due to the release of a new version of OS X every 18 months or so compared to the ridiculous periods between Windows versions.
Bravo to you Apple for creating and meeting consumer demand while increasing your profit! This is a great stock to own right now. It's rated as Buy at $75 and yet it still trades for around $67-$68. I still don't know why more people don't hold on to this stock.

Is Apple thinking that SD cards are going to become the new "floppies"?
Many people who exchange files by 'sneaker net' use CDs, but don't need the capacity of a CD. Plus while rewriteable CDs exist, they are pricey and most people don't use them. Most files are exchanged a barely used CD that then gets shelved and collects dust.
Imagine if people started exchanging SD cards. Initially lower capacities only will be available, but soon CD equivalent SD cards will be available, and soon after that the 1 and 2 TB cards.
If Apple can create enough demand for cards, then economies of scale will bring prices down as they become a standard commodity.
As others have mentioned the bigger capacity ones would have all sorts of uses besides the exchange of files. Wow.
