Since your PD is in 2006, It may be a mistake.
This month I have seen many applicatiions with PD - EB2-India Jan-2003 to Jan 2004 are approved.
If you see many other updates like "Card production ordered" "Welcome NEW permanent residents" in the coming days then it may be a real approval

I would say go ahead and ask your employer if they can apply another labor in EB2 for the new role. Yes, it is correct that there is a lot of scrutiny these days, but if filed properly and if your compnay has followed all the procedures, your PERM might get approved.

My company is layingoff people. We have been through 5 rounds of layoffs. They have asked all the H1Bs to hold off until about 6 months after the final layoff is over. They have issued written memos to all my cols in H1B stating this reason. Truly unfortunate.

I don't know when exactly your case was filed. I was originally planning to file mine in summer 2005 but my attorney mentioned that there were a lot of errors and delays in the system at that time and recommended I hold off. I ended up filing in December 2005 and got approved in 2 months.

An event in DC would be convinient for members who live or work in and around the DC area, and also because the concentration of working people in the city and vicinity is higher. People who work in the area can stop by after work and network over dinner.

what is the date shown on the online status message?
Is it RD or ND. I think ND is later than RD right. I believe they show the ND but say your application was "received on". Is it right ?
Does the processing time on website go via RD or ND?

There is a chance that i might get laid off. I have a pending I485 filed on July 2. My I-140 was approved in June 06. Would like to know if i get laid off within how many days do i have to find a job.

If 1099 is not accepted by client & need FEIN (for corp-to-corp) then one can get a FEIN as sole priprietor. is there any additional requirements for this viz. liability insurance.. or anything else.

Yes getting her here on an F1 Visa is your best option. You can hv the wedding in India but she shd not disclose abt her wedding and shd cm here on her maiden name and after afew months you can hv a registered marriage here. That is what my cousin did and they flew together to US.

Hi Gurus,
I am filing 485 soon. But l have ported my priority date to latest I140. I am filing 485 based on the latest 140. My priority date is Jan 2001. I am filing my 485 will now, will uscis consider my priority date and process my case OR filing date which is june 20, 2007 and process accordingly. i.e some body filed on May 30, 2007 with PD Jun 2003 will consider for processing first? rather than my case?

it is ok for the derivative applicant to not be working, but if the primary who os geeting the GC on the basis of employment does need to be employed at the time of approval.
1-2 months off will not matter. If the I-485 stays pending for too long they can raise RFE for current employer letters and other specifics, you will need to have a job lined up at that time.

Last weekend while chit chatting with my Indian neighbor, he told me that some of people he knows of got GC with their PD not being current. He said that his very good friend, who has a PD of 2005 for EB3, just got his GC. I kind of mentioned that may he applied for EB2 and did porting. But he was firm and said no his friend did not do it. He also went on to mention that his friend got a RFE and then once he responded to the RFE, he immediately got GC.
I know, for now this whole thing from my standpoint is hearsay. But I just would like to know if any of you have come across such cases. Just want to get an understanding of how much of this occurs. I am guessing it is a very small number.

I am almost sure even if you have an approved I-140, it still isn't enough to get an H-1B extension.

Hi All,
We wish to apply for PIO card for our 5 month old baby at the Washington DC Indian Embassy.
The application and the supporting documents are all in place.
We have to drive 3 hrs to the Indian Embassy.
Since the weather is not very co-operative, i was wondering if it's absolutely required to take the kid to the Embassy? I would like to avoid taking him if possible.
Also, a minor question - how do you manage to get the thumb impression. Where can we get the ink pads required for the thumb impression?
